In Bengali, it is also known as zebra plant, inch plant, or wandering jew. It is a very beautiful ornamental creeping plant. Scientific name: Tradescantia zebrina. However, if exposed to direct intense sunlight, the color of the leaves may fade. This plant prefers light and well-drained fertile soil. Water when the soil dries out. Excessive watering can cause the plant to rot. It grows very easily from cuttings. A part of the stem is cut and placed in the ground or water, and roots grow. It is great for decorating tubs, hanging baskets, balconies or gardens. It can cover the soil, which reduces weeds.
