Since that rainy afternoon, the small corner of the library had become a magical place. Two tables, old wooden chairs, and the city's breath outside the window. Aryan and Neela would come and sit there every day. They would keep their eyes on the pages of the book, but an unspoken poem would form in the corner of their eyes. They were trying to get to know each other—silently, behind the veil of patience. Do you listen to music? I listen. I like Rabindra Sangeet. You? I sing, alone. Just listening to my voice will make you smile. Songs are sung with the heart, not with the throat. In this way, every day, word after word, touch after touch, but all the words touched only the heart. No hand touched, no hug, yet a deep spiritual bond was developing between them. One day, Neela wrote something on the white page at the back of the book. When Aryan found it, his heart sank. Neela's handwriting: When I look at your face I remember my most silent song. The song you've never heard But every melody of it is written in your eyes. Aryan couldn't sleep that night. On the last page of his notebook, he wrote the answer: I can hear your silent song In the wind, in the sound of rain, Even in the sound of your walking... Be present in every letter even if you're not there. They started to recognize each other in poetry. Neela often said that the most beautiful love is in good friendship. Aryan smiled. He knew that this friendship was more than just friendship. One afternoon, they were walking by the Dhanmondi lake. Neela asked, how do you understand love? Aryan paused and said, Love is only for the person who makes you want to be silent when you see him. Neela remained silent. A strange light was flickering in the corner of his eyes. They were searching for the definition of love within themselves, but neither of them dared to utter the name. They now regularly left letters in the folds of books. Each letter was like a new story, a new poem. Once Neela wrote: There is no name for you on my mobile phone, yet I wake up silently with your name. I leave each heartbeat in the folds of the book, can you hear it? Aryan wrote: Your eyes are my address. If someone asks, where do you live? I say, 'I live in the deep solitude of his eyes.' In this strange poetry-centered friendship, they were falling in love without knowing it. Neela and Aryan sat outside the library for the first time in a cafe. A little tea, a little biscuit and a lot of silence. There was talk and laughter at other tables around them, but stories were silently being born at their table. How do you like this city? Everyone is busy. No one touches anyone. But you are the only one who touches, Aryan said. Neela trembled a little. They understood that something very deep was being born. They kept their eyes on each other, and outside it was raining lightly. One day Neela brought a small painting she had drawn. A girl's face, whose eyes were wet with rain. Aryan was surprised and said, is that you? Neela smiled and said, no, in their language, it is a reflection of love. She didn't mean the face, she meant the feeling. And that feeling was made for Aryan. They hadn't said I love you yet, but a different tenderness for Aryan had formed in Neela's voice and an eternal wait for Neela in Aryan's eyes.
