One afternoon in July. The rain was falling as if trying to wash away some old pain. Aryan Rahman was sitting next to a pile of books in a library in Shantinagar, Dhaka. Tiredness in his eyes, a shadow of imagination on his face, but a search for an eternal melody in his heart. He was taking Humayun Ahmed's "Colored Pencil" in his hand, when suddenly another hand came forward. The nails of that hand had light pink nail polish, trembling slightly. They both stopped. Their eyes met. And just then, time seemed to stop for a moment. With a gentle smile, the girl said, "You take it first." Aryan said with a kind of smile, "No, you take it, I'll wait." The girl's name was Nila Afroz. There was depth in her eyes, a shadowy smile on her lips, and a kind of ancient sadness in her face. As if many rivers were hidden inside her. #### **Library Days** Aryan goes to the library every day. He had gone today, but this time he had gone a long time ago. He could feel Neela amidst the sound of the rain, Neela's voice was ringing in his ears - that smile, that accent. Neela loves poetry, has the names of Sunil and Nirmalendu memorized. Aryan also writes, love drafts on torn pages at the back of the notebook. One day Aryan asked, which is your favorite poem? Neela replied, love means touching each other anew every day. Then he smiled and said, but Sunil's poem "You" is my favorite. From that day on, the small table in the corner of the library became their personal address. They didn't text much, they didn't call. They wrote letters. No, they didn't post them - the next day they would leave them in the folds of the library books for each other. Neela once wrote: "In your eyes I see the sky, where my name is written in clouds." Aryan wrote in response: "You are the most beautiful paragraph in my story." In this era without letters, they went back to an old time, where love was about patience, feeling, and waiting. One afternoon, they went to the small park next to the library. Neela was singing softly- How far is the sky, I don't know... I live in your shadow, yet I don't know... Aryan was looking at her, as if it wasn't a song, but a song touched by love. He wondered how this girl could create a world around herself so quietly? She had a world within herself too, but Neela had suddenly entered it, silently, loudly, with tenderness. There was a permanent pain in Neela's eyes. One day Aryan asked, why is there so much pain in your eyes? Neela didn't answer. He just said, some pain cannot be said, you just have to carry it… Arian understood that loving this girl means not only being by her side, but also loving the silence inside her. One evening, after a light rain, they were standing on the side of the road talking. Neela said, if I get lost one day, what will you look for? Arian said, if you get lost, I will search for you in every library in the world. That day, there were tears in Neela's eyes. The touch of love was in the air, in the water droplets, in the corners of her eyes. The bond that started from meeting that rainy afternoon slowly turned into love. They had not yet said "I love you" with their mouths, but every behavior, every word said that they had not fallen in love, they were falling in love.
